Before diving into the gaming world, it's crucial to ensure that all the software on your device is up to date. This step will not only allow you to benefit from the latest features but also ensure optimal stability and top-notch performance. Graphics drivers, in particular, are often updated with new optimizations specially designed for the latest titles.
Update Armoury Crate, an application widely used by laptop owners to manage various settings, including sound. However, it also provides an additional feature by allowing the launch of games. Exploring this application, you'll discover several game launchers such as Steam, Xbox, or the EA application, which will enable you to manage various settings such as key assignments and Wi-Fi network management.
In addition to its game-launching feature, Armoury Crate offers other interesting options to customize your gaming experience. For example, you can limit the number of frames per second (FPS) to optimize the graphic performance of your game. Moreover, you have the ability to create specific game profiles to meet your particular needs. Further exploring this application, you will also find your Asus profile, allowing easy access to settings and parameters specific to your device.

Familiarize yourself with the console's touchscreen, navigate through Windows 11, and use the controller like a mouse by using the buttons below:
- Press the upper right trigger (RB) to perform a left-click.
- Press the lower right trigger (RT) to perform a right-click.
- Press the A button for the Enter key.
- Press the B button for the Escape key.
To check the functions of each button on the controller, simply press and hold the "Armoury Crate" button. This feature provides a detailed overview of the capabilities offered by each button on the controller, making your gaming experience more accessible. Install Games on the ROG ALLY Console
To get started, open the Xbox application included in Windows. With the ROG ALLY, you enjoy three months of free subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This grants you instant access to hundreds of games that you can stream or install on your device.
You can install gaming platforms such as Steam, Epic Games, the EA application, GOG Galaxy, and others, just as you would on any Windows computer. From Armoury Crate, go to the "Content" tab, then choose "Gaming Platforms" to quickly access the most popular game stores. Alternatively, you can also open your preferred web browser from the Windows desktop and download your favorite gaming platform from its official website.
Once you've installed some games, they will appear in the "Game Library" tab of Armoury Crate with corresponding artwork. To launch a game, simply select it and press the A button. If you want to add a game or program that hasn't been detected by Armoury Crate, you can add it manually by pressing the "Add" button. You can also remove applications and games you don't want to see here. Please note that the "Remove" function in Armoury Crate doesn't uninstall the game; it simply removes it from the Armoury Crate menu.
To uninstall a game, open Xbox, Steam, or the corresponding gaming platform and uninstall it from there.
Armoury Crate organizes your library based on recently played games, but you can also sort them alphabetically or by platform by pressing the sort button.
Even though navigating Windows and Armoury Crate is easy, it can be frustrating to enter your password or PIN every time you turn on the Ally. Those precious seconds could be spent gaming. That's why Asus has included a fingerprint sensor in the power button of the Ally. This way, you can instantly log in and start playing.
To register your fingerprint on the Ally, open the "Settings" app in Windows. Go to Accounts, then select "Sign-in options," followed by "Fingerprint Recognition" (Windows Hello). Click on the "Set up" button and follow the on-screen instructions to register one or more fingers. Then, when you restart the device or wake it from sleep, simply place your finger on the power button to log in automatically.
Here's a quick but valuable tip: if you need to shut down quickly, switch users, or access the task manager, there's no need to minimize Armoury Crate and click on the Start menu. Just press and hold the Command Center button for three seconds, and the Ctrl + Alt + Del screen will appear. From there, you can lock the device, switch users, sign out, change your password, open Task Manager, choose a Wi-Fi network, enable accessibility options, or shut down/put the device to sleep.
Customize Controller Buttons and Create Game Profiles:
Asus provides you with the ability to customize the button layout according to your preferences. In Armory Crate, go to the "Settings" tab, click on "Configure" under "Control Mode," and choose the scenario for which you want to modify the buttons (gamepad mode for compatible games or desktop mode for navigating Windows and games without controller support). Select the button you want to modify, and you can remap it to another button or assign a custom action.
When you launch a game for the first time, Armoury Crate automatically creates a game profile. If you want to change the buttons for a specific game, select it in the Armory Crate game library and press X. You can even add a custom image for the game or choose an operating mode each time you launch it. While remapping buttons, you can also adjust other controller settings. You can modify the sensitivity of triggers and sticks.
To do this, go back to the control mode configuration menu in Armoury Crate or open the game profile you want to customize. Select the left or right stick to adjust the dead zone and outer threshold. Choose the trigger in the sidebar to adjust the sensitivity of the analog triggers, and enable the "Mirror Triggers" option if you want them to have the same sensitivity. Finally, in the Vibration tab, you can adjust the intensity of vibrations for a quieter or less intense gaming experience.
