Detecting the status of my battery

The battery is a key component of your Asus laptop. Over time, it naturally wears out and its autonomy decreases. This guide helps you check the health of your battery, identify the causes of rapid discharge, and optimize its lifespan.

🧪 1. Understanding Natural Battery Wear

Li-ion batteries, used in most laptops, gradually lose their capacity after 300 to 500 charge cycles. This depends on:

  • how you use your device (gaming, heavy software, etc.),
  • ambient temperatures,
  • and the number of background applications running.

🛠️ 2. Steps to Check Your Battery Health

a) Check for System Updates

  • Windows Update: Settings > Update & Security.
  • BIOS and Asus drivers: via MyASUS or the EZ Flash utility.

b) Use the MyASUS Tool

  • Open the MyASUS app.
  • Go to Customer Support > System Diagnosis.
  • Launch a battery analysis by clicking Checkup.
  • ➡️ If an anomaly is detected, contact customer support for a replacement.

c) Optimize Settings to Preserve Battery Life

  • Close unnecessary background applications.
  • Reduce screen brightness.
  • Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use.
  • Change power mode to "Best battery life".

d) Identify Power-Hungry Applications

  • Right-click the battery icon > Power & sleep settings.
  • Check battery usage per app and disable those using too much power.

💡 3. Tips to Extend Battery Lifespan

  • Turn on Battery Saver mode in Windows.
  • Use Hibernate mode if you’ll be away for a long time.
  • Do not leave the battery at 0% for several days.
