Disassembling a laptop to replace aging or non-functional parts, clean it, and even to salvage certain components of your system, the first step always involves removing the bottom case. The bottom case is the rear cover of your laptop, the piece on which your computer rests. Asus laptop models differ from one another. Some bottom cases may be attached differently from one series to another, with different types or lengths of screws that may sometimes be hidden under rubber pads.
For disassembling and reassembling the bottom case, you will need:
- A tool kit with various screwdriver bits (crosshead or torx)
- A plastic spatula
- A screw storage organizer
Let's start by identifying the type of screws:
Using the plastic spatula (no metal objects), locate the most sensitive area (often under the hinge cover), unclip a tab, and slide the spatula to completely unclip the bottom case.
There you go, the bottom case of your GV301 is now unclipped and detached from the top case.
For reassembly, simply clip the tabs back and screw in the screws without mixing up their lengths, as screws that are too long in short screw locations may cause bulges in the top case.
