Before you begin
- Read the safety precautions and repair checklist.
- Remove the bottom.
Tools you'll need:
O + M1.6 X 3.0L (2 pieces)
O + M2.0 X 16.5L (2 pieces yellow)
Disassembly of the ROG Ally battery
1. Remove the battery power cable
Important: Unplug the battery power cable by first lifting the sides with the red wire. If you're unsure, contact an authorized service center for assistance.
2. Disconnect the FFC cable from the motherboard, then remove the rubber pieces as shown in the image below.
3. Remove the battery screws.
4. Remove the battery power cable and FFC cable.
Reassembly of the ROG Ally battery
- Remove the adhesive protectors on the battery bracket. (only if new)
2. Install the battery into the battery bracket in the indicated direction. Ensure the battery connector is facing upward. (only if battery is new)
Make sure to place the battery and maintain the battery foil in the direction shown in the image.
3. Remove part of the adhesive protector from the right end of the aluminum foil, then carefully align and attach the aluminum foil to the battery by the right end.
4. Continue to remove the middle part of the adhesive protector, then carefully attach the aluminum foil to the middle part of the battery and ensure the battery connector is not obstructed by the foil.
5. Remove the remaining adhesive from the aluminum foil, then carefully align and attach the foil to the battery until the adhesive is completely removed.
6. Fold the edges of the battery's aluminum foil as shown in the image below, ensuring that the battery is properly covered by the aluminum foil.
7. Locate the spot indicated in the image below and attach the adhesive tape to the battery bracket.
8. Find the location shown in the image below, align, and stick the sticker. Do not remove the top of the battery.
9. Reconnect the battery power cable to the battery.
10. Reconnect the FFC cable to the battery.
11. Secure the battery using the screw(s) you removed earlier.
12. Reconnect the FFC cable to the motherboard and then put back the rubbers as shown below.
13. Reconnect the battery power cable to the motherboard.
14. Install the components you removed in the previous section before starting.
