How to determine if a motherboard is compatible with my case?

Today, graphics cards are retrocompatible, meaning that a PCI Express 3.0 card will work with a PCI Express 2.0 slot. However, if you are using a PC with AGP slots, most recent graphics cards will not be compatible.
