How do I upgrade my laptop?

Unlike desktop PCs, laptops have limited upgrade options because most components are soldered to the motherboard.
However, two components can often be upgraded to boost performance without replacing the machine.

✅ 1. Random Access Memory (RAM)

Adding or replacing RAM allows your PC to:

  • better handle multitasking,

  • achieve smoother performance,

  • and increase system longevity.

💡 Two possible options:

  • Add RAM sticks if your PC has an available slot,

  • Replace existing RAM with higher capacity sticks.
➜ Example: upgrade from 8 GB to 16 GB.

✅ 2. Storage Drive

Replacing your mechanical hard drive (HDD) with a SSD allows you to:

  • speed up Windows startup,

  • reduce application load times,

  • and improve your PC’s overall responsiveness.

⚠️ What you generally cannot upgrade:

  • The processor (CPU)

  • The graphics card (GPU)

  • The motherboard, except for a full replacement (often not cost-effective)

These components are soldered to the motherboard, making replacement nearly impossible without extensive technical intervention.
